ONCA Gallery 100 Trees Exhibition

19 June - 6 July 2014

Smoke and Mirrors Heathland 1, 2013 is selected for ‘100’.

100 artworks. 100 trees. 100 hours to make a difference.

19th June – 6th July 2014.

This summer, ONCA will create two forests – an artistic forest inside the gallery and a living one outside.

Featuring the work of 100 artists, 100 will launch ONCA’s summer programme of exhibitions and events themed around home and habitat.

Trees take centre stage in ONCA’s immediate priorities. 100 is an open submission exhibition, guest curated by Dan Howard-Birt of Stour Valley Arts, presenting 100 small artworks by visual artists and young people working in all mediums.

The brief was simple, represent a tree in any way you chose. One restriction applied – the dimensions must fit within 20cm cubed. For each artwork we have selected for 100, we intend to raise the funds to plant 100 trees in association with earth restoration service in central Brighton, creating an artistic forest within the gallery and a real forest outside. In time this forest will become a space for workshops and performances, building on this opportunity for new and established artists and nurturing talent for future generations.

ONCA are also inviting local businesses and schools to support the 100 project. We need to raise £100 for each tree that we plant. Would you like to sponsor a tree as a local business, school, friend to ONCA or local resident?
